When I overclock it to 4.5 GHz, disabling Intel Turbo Boost and forcing voltage to 1.35V (I could probably go lower but I have to do further testing), when. The manual doesn't have much detail, and I see a lot of conflicting information online with very little information specific to MSI motherboards. Should the Vcore decrease at idle in the override mode? I'm fairly sure it should in the adaptive mode, but I believe it will also exceed the voltage I set when under load. The guide on (the only decent generic guide I can. I've tried 42, 44, 45, and 46x multipliers, disabled XMP, and set my core voltage as high as 1.375. Should I try updating BIOS? I'm not sure if anything is working incorrectly because I'm not sure exactly how the different voltage modes are supposed to work. Whenever I try and overclock my i7-6700K, it reverts down to 4.0GHz during the x264 16T stress test. I've attached a picture of HWinfo showing the high Vcore at idle. I've tried MSI turbo boost enabled and disabled. C1 is the first idle state, C2 the second, and so on, where more power saving actions are taken for numerically higher C-states. C0 is the operational state, meaning that the CPU is doing useful work. I have EIST, C-State, and C1E all enabled. Idle States (C-states) are used to save power when the processor is idle. This produced temps of 72-75c in my case (Define R5) with a Noctua UH14S cooler. Using auto LLC, it would shoot up to about 1.31v under heavy load (prime 95 small fft). For i7-6700k base clock just drop Core Voltage to 1.25V. 6700k overclocking and low LLC/vcore question Hi all, I have a 6700k on an Asus Z170-A running at 4.4ghz currently. When I leave the voltage on Auto, it functions as I would expect with Vcore dropping to about 0.8V at idle. Im not sure what that is but when idle is seems to read like the temp of the CPU. Overclock the chip manually to 4. VID and my clocks do drop, but Vcore stays at or very near it's maximum. the 6700k has a turbo of 4.2ghz and a base of 4.0. No matter which mode I try (Adaptive, override, offset), my vcore will not drop at idle. Hi, I'm trying to overclock my 6600k with Z170A Krait motherboard and having some issues with Vcore.
